If you find that your bathroom’s too cluttered with different bath and body products for each person in the family and want to go for something that’s not from the derma-brands, we’ve picked five that we like.
1. The Blessed Soaps bottled soaps, from $15-$105, from Nature’s Glory
This do-it-all soap comes in five variations – peppermint, lavender, citrus, tea tree and unscented – and is formulated with certified organic and pure essential oils cold-pressed without the use of chemicals. It is also cruelty-free and suitable for use on every part of the body, including your hair and face. This soap is also free of artificial fragrances, colourants, parabens and sulphates.
It has aloe vera, shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil and sunflower oil to moisturise and nourish skin. We like the lavender variant, which helps you unwind and relax after a long day, but if you have young ones in the family, you might want to go for the unscented version.
2. Love Beauty and Planet body wash and lotions, $10.90-$13.90, from Love Beauty and Planet and Watsons
This clean beauty brand is cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, and its products are free of parabens and silicones. Its body washes come in four variants – murumuru butter and rose, coconut water and mimosa flower, coconut oil and ylang ylang, and tea tree oil and vetiver – and its lotions come in three variants – murumuru butter and rose, coconut water and mimosa flower, and argan oil and lavender.
We’d go for the more unisex scented coconut water and mimosa flower variant for both the body wash and lotion, which give adequate moisturisation to all skin types.
3. Lush Dream Cream Self-Preserving Body Lotion, $50, from Lush
You know Lush carries a ton of bath soaps, but did you know that they have body lotions and deodorants among others too? We like this rich body lotion which has chamomile, extra virgin olive oil and cocoa butter to moisturise dehydrated skin. There’s also oat milk and rose water to calm and soothe irritated skin.
One British mum even claimed on Facebook that this lotion helped cure her baby’s eczema — her testimonial went viral — though we’d recommend you check with your doctor if you’d really like to use it on eczema-prone skin.
4. Bath & Body Works Gingham collection, $12.50-$13.50, from Bath & Body Works
If you’ve walked past a Bath & Body Works boutique, you’ll know that they carry a wide variety of products, from body care to home fragrances. One of the latest additions we like is the Gingham collection. The scent is a fresh floral-citrus, with notes of blue freesia, sweet clementine and violet petals. The shower gel, body cream and body lotion all have shea butter and vitamin E to moisturise and nourish skin.
The lotion also has aloe vera and coconut oil to further hydrate and lock in moisture. If you like the scent, you can get it in different forms – a body mist, room fragrance, body scrub, hand cream, perfume, home candle and even a shimmer mist to get skin glowing and smelling fresh at the same time.
5. The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range, $6-$33, from The Body Shop
A well-established brand in our little red dot, The Body Shop has a wide range of products from body care to makeup. Its customers love its cruelty-free and eco-friendly initiatives, and the numerous scents in its body care range caters to different preferences. But if you’re looking for a range that’s good for everyone in your family, we recommend the Almond Milk & Honey range.
It has, well, organic almond milk and oil, and community trade honey to deeply nourish skin, and is suitable for sensitive skin types too. The scent is not overwhelmingly floral or sweet, and the range comprises a cleansing bar, shower cream, body scrub, body butter, body yogurt, body lotion and hand cream.
